Joe Wilson Proves Congress Impotent

Posted by: John Coonen

Let's See:

- The President comes into OUR Chamber - The Peoples' Congress - and in rather thinly veiled lawyerspeak, calls those who disagree with him untruthful...In essence, Resident Obama calls those who disagree with him, "liars."

- The House Leadership (and Senate, for that matter) won't even let conservative lawmakers participate in policy formation, let alone have time for debate or at least public Q & A, which is standard operating procedure for ANY learning conference or post-graduate seminar.

- The ruling partizens have, in essence, refused to hold any public town hall meetings to discuss matters of import to We the People.

- Yet they decide to make a big deal out of Joe Wilson, and his "rude" outburst?

Oh brother.

We all know what they know we know: the power elite in Washington are afraid that they'll be forced to publicly discuss important issues, and with this open discussion, they may have to be forced to publicly disagree with their own leadership. The ridiculous pieces of law would be brought out in the open, and frankly, they can't deal with the embarrassment of having to explain it to We the People, let alone sell us on it.  Nope, they'll leave the sales job (snow job) up to their velvet-tongued propogandist, resident Obama, along with their deer-in-the-headlights leaders of the House and Senate who simply lack the foresight to know better, and the street smarts to know that nobody else in their camp would want their job of floating absolutely amateurish and fluff legislation.

- By disallowing participation, let alone barring ANY leadership by the opposing party to determine agenda items, over half of the People are not being truly represented in Congress. They are being muzzled, and told to stay in their corner, and the majority party is saying blatantly, "We'll do it without you."

And they will.

Which means, We the People are virtually powerless. Impotent. If 50% of the population is not being fairly represented by our Congressional Representatives at all, then why do we have a Congress at all?  To rubber-stamp everything the ruling party has on its agenda?

Seems so.

Meanwhile, the Press, which by Constitutional Law is granted amazing power to act as the Peoples' watchdog, chooses to adorn Rose Garden-colored glasses. They're selfishly focused on mis-reporting and shaping news rather than reporting it. Through their own collective unwillingness to do their jobs, muzzling the People, versus standing up and fighting for justice, participation and transparency.

Citizenship vs. Partizenship:  Once again, partizenship wins out, and we lose.

It's "polite" politicians who allow terrible things to happen to the People. They sit quietly as wars break out. They sit quietly, muzzled by their own self-imposed rules and allow the Executive Branch to bully them, time and time again, no matter which party is in power.

Maybe it's time for a Parliament - style discussion, which evokes open discussion between all Branches of government. Hold them ALL accountable to each other, and to the People, rather than encourage a "shut-up-and-this-is-how-it-is" approach.

Should the President, VP, Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of The House start wearing matching wife-beater T-shirts? Seems appropriate enough. "Shut-up, sit down and take it like a woman" seems to be the battle cry of the ruling partisans these days when it comes to dealing with conservative legislators.

I say to Congress, "Get up and fight! Remember who you are supposed to represent! Not the partizens; the CITIZENS! Sure, try not to be rude, but if HAVE to, then do so! Then, the one charged with keeping all in order can bang the gavel, and return it to order.

It's designed to force us to shut up and swallow everything that one branch of OUR government is forcing down our collective throats. Time for Congress and the Senate to man-up, woman-up, whatever it takes for the tyrants to realize that we won't be muzzled by threats nor unsavory actions from the Speaker of our own House.
