I have a personal favor to ask you. I’m feeling a little blue today about the recent loss of my dad. It was last December 16th, 2013, but some days it still seems like yesterday to me. So, would you please say a prayer for the soul of my dad? His name is Garey Coonen. He really was (and is) an amazing person!
Whether we know it or not; whether we acknowledge it or not, the light of the world shines on us all, here to bring us knowledge, wisdom, happiness, peace, courage, love and purpose. It’s up to us to allow the light in, then allow our thoughts, words and actions to reflect the light for others too. My dad sure shined on me and many others in his own special ways, with great selfless advice, a willingness to always share, great creativity in his storytelling and writing, incredible humor, vast intellect, a strong sense of family, a desire for fairness, and his commitment and true love for my mom. I’m forever thankful for that, and so much more.
Tomorrow, a Mass will be said in my dad’s name, thanks to friends for arranging that, it means SO much to us! Thank you for praying for my dad!
A Prayer For Those Who Have Passed:
God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
