Rubio Dismantles Iowa Senator On The Senate Floor, Reminding America Why Cuba and Venezuela Are Not Harkin’s “Paradise”
You think Cuba is a paradise? Iowa Democrat Senator Tom Harkin just returned from an official tour in Cuba, and upon his return, characterized Cuba as a “paradise” in many ways.
A pardise? Really, Senator Harkin?
Harkin, won’t be seeking re-election this year (good thing). He went on to wax poetic about Cuba’s education system, their “low” infant mortality rate, their socialist healthcare system, and more… Rubio addressed and decimated each of the outgoing Iowa Senator’s points, hastily.
Senator Rubin takes on Sen Tom Harkin regarding Cuba and Venezuela being a “paradise.”
Senator Rubio didn’t take too kindly to the “paradise” characterization by the starry-eyed Harkin. Rubio took to the floor of the Senate, to remind the American people that Communist, Totalitarian governments see weakness, and pounce on it.
In this case, they saw weakness in an influential but misinformed Iowa Senator Tom Harkin. They succeeded in getting a U.S. Senator to spread their falsehoods, to manipulate and gain favor with fellow Senators to lift the long-embargo against Cuba (first enacted in October 19th, 1960).
This 15 minute speech harkens back to Rubio’s own Cuban roots. His father, along with millions of others, fled Cuba to the United States, to escape a brutal, opressive government.
Rubio’s speech first dismantles Harkin’s notions in no time, then uses the opportunity to illustrate how the people of Cuba and Venezuela are begging for freedom, as they’re being brutalized and murdered by their own government, yet virtually no country’s leader lifts a finger to help them in their plight, let alone speak out against it.
Senator Rubio’s speech is below, and it’s well worth your time.
